I was going to suggest McCombe and Furman. I'm pretty certain the latter turned us down when Abbott was here but he chose to go elsewhere, either Oldham or Donny.

"Former Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe is said to be interesting Mansfield Town, Carlisle United and York City."
"He joined Everton for £125,000 from Shrewsbury Town in February 2011 but never played a competitive match, spending a month on loan at Woking in January 2014. After being released that May, he had a brief stint at Ellesmere Rangers before returning to the professional game by signing for Fleetwood Town in January 2015, being released at the end of the season."

Doncaster have released Jamie McCombe, Theo Robinson, Abdul Razak, Reece Wabara, Dean Furman, Stephen Bywater. Reece Wabara would be a good shout. Based in the North, right back. Reece Wabara would be a great signing.

Lee Holmes leaving Preston.
I think we should be at least trying to sign him. Not that far to move from Preston, we need wide players.
I'd expect Exeter will be in for him as well with him spending time on loan there last season.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it before but Stephen Dobbie, released by a Crystal Palace, on loan at Fleetwood last year would be a great signing for Carlisle. Formerly of Blackpool, Swansea. He is 32 and has had fitness issues but he is a marvellous footballer if fit and would be a revelation if fit in league 2.

Would still be on a decent wage I'd expect? Do a job in L1...

No chance. Have heard he was on about £10,000 a week at palace so cant see him dropping his wage that much even though he didnt do much for fleetwood.

Barry Corr signed for Cambridge on a 2 year deal. Brilliant piece of business for them imptessivr signings so far from them. Makes you wonder how much they paying these players to drop down a level.

Corr was supposedly not happy about being played as a lone striker at Southend, and Cambridge play two up front and wingers which he prefers. They're also paying him a lot because apparently Portsmouth and Oxford made offers as well.

I read the other day that Cambridge made £1m from the Man Utd FA Cup games this season.
Some decent signings from them this summer, looks like they are investing it well.

Dale Jennings released by Barnsley. Ex Tranmere and Bayern.
Looked a real talent in his tranmere days. Possibly worth a look?

I thought the same crunch but would he suit our hoofball though?

I thought the same crunch but would he suit our hoofball though? Maybe having a player like him along with Dempsey would encourage us not to hoof?

I doubt the midfield will see much of the ball unless they look upwards towards the sky and see it being launched over their heads.

Reece Wabara rumoured to be signing for Notts County tomorrow. I'd have been delighted if we'd have signed him as he can play all across the back four I think.

Didn't realise he was only 22, doesn't really seem to have lived up to his potential. Only scored 3 goals in each of the last 2 seasons so not really a goalscorer, Potts scored more than that even when he wasn't trying.

Wycombe signed Garry Thompson, ex Scunny, Bradford and Notts Co. Getting on but would've been excellent for us. Kendal lad and a Carlisle fan to boot apparently?

Cambridge have signed Omozusi and Luke Berry, the former an ex player of theirs they sold to Barnsley after they got promoted last year. Signed him for a fee on a four year deal so clearly mean business this year.

Cambridge are already spending big, and supposedly they aren't even planning on cutting in to the massive amount they got for the Man Utd games. Omozusi, Berry and Corr will all be on big wages.
