A much, much better player than morons give him credit for. Lost form for a while last season, but can't blame him with a broken foot for most of it.
Best of luck to him, if Zoko and he lives up to previous form I'd be happy.

Strange move for the lad tbh with all of Blackpool's issues lately & with the town being a complete and utter **** tip. Any way good luck to the lad at least we won't have to put up with his cant be arsed attitude anymore and abysmal first touch.

Best of luck to him, if Zoko and he lives up to previous form I'd be happy. Can't really call people morons for having a different opinion on a player's ability or attitude than you do. To me it also seemed like he thought he was better than he was. Didn't have the drive or hardiness that you need in League 2. Body language was shocking for months. I'm not necessarily 'glad' that he's gone, but i won't lose sleep over it, was much more bothered about Dempsey and Gillespie. Far more vital players who made more of an impact when they needed to, Potts was ineffective for large parts of the season.

He is quite athletic, has a good engine on him, has an eye for goal and can be quite dynamic when he gets up to speed.... HOWEVER, I doubt he will reach a much higher level as his basic control is poor and he is incredibly slow on the turn and over the first few yards, which is crucial at a higher level. For a big lad he doesn't use his physique and is utterly crap in the air. I'm not that bothered by him leaving... he didn't want to be here... and he is replaceable, providing we use the cash to add extra goals to the team somewhere.
I'm not sure I buy the arguments about the pitch though... at least McDonald will play passing football which suits his style. We may have a great pitch... but the ball rarely touches it. Potts spent much of the second half of the season watching the ball sail miles above his head after another aimless punt upfield.

Not gutted he's gone, wouldn't have been upset if he'd stayed.... Blackpool however is a mental choice. Change manager more often than the wind changes, owners & boardroom in perpetual meltdown...doubt with their finances they offer a huge pay rise...ok they're in a higher league, but that's looking likely to be for a season...my suspicion is that he's gone to the donkey lashers because it was his only offer. Best of luck Bradley, suspect you may need it kidda. Never mind, if the mighty negotiator JN can broker anything more than £300k for Potts at tribunal I'd consider it a decent deal. That would go a long way towards building a better team for Carlisle United...oh, wait, hang on....

Blackpool might be in the c**p but at least Potts will be playing for a decent manager. His move tho is obviously about the dosh, but best of luck to him.

Or is it about playing footy for a manager that plays decent football, at a higher level than he would be with us, with a view to progressing his career? Potentially sees them as a stepping stone into the Championship.

I liked him as a player but Curle's style didn't suit him. At times last season he was our only goal threat. Blackpool is a strange one though, a higher division yes,pay rise but the place is a shambles at the moment and I suspect like Huntinghorn that this was his only offer.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them in L2 this time next season. This move has been on the cards at least six months now so it hasn't surprised anyone.
We'll never know how much we get for him either other than how long Nixon and AJ stay in charge for until the money runs out and they'll be looking at the next piece of family silver.

According to the N&S it was 'more than the £150k' that was offered in January.
I'd imagine it was around £200k.
Knowing our lot, they will have accepted £10k up front and the rest when he plays for England/gets Blackpool in the Champions League/wins a gold medal.

McDonald won't see the season out. Troubled times behind and ahead in Lancashire. Supporters of the lashers are more despondent than the average blue at the moment...

McDonald probably doesn't even want him but he knows we did. just another revenge attack, like the managerial position 'i'll sign once fred apologises' then ****ed off back to west ham out of spite.

The simple fact of the matter is potts was not fit after his injury, he said he didn't train for 6 weeks and still got played. People go on about him pulling out of tackles so would i if i had a broken toe or foot what ever it was We'll miss him as we only had two player with spark who could change the game.

In all honesty he was absolutely nowhere near Premier League standard so I'm guessing McDonald is telling a bit of a porky there, or at least twisting what happened.

Maybe not yet, but maybe he thought he could potentially develop and be premier league standard in 2 or 3 years time. I don't think he needed to tell porkies to blackpool, they'd already signed him when this interview was done.

I think he'll suit the Championship in a few years depending on how much he progresses at Blackpool. McDonald would do well to sell Potts to some of the fans because a) some of them are underwhelmed and b) even those who are happy with him still hate Oyston and therefore most people associated with the club.

The lad is still young what 20/21 played in struggling team for at least last 2 years and been ****ed around at full back at times last season he was imo our best player and main goal threat before xmas I have no reason to doubt he played through injury he stated he hardly trained and played with injections
that says more about our dire situation that we were placing so much reliance on a 20 year old kid in a relegation battle with no senior pros stepping up to the plate is it any wonder his form dipped
I think the lad has every chance of going and having a very good career

Just because the boy aint messi doesnt mean he doesnt have the ability to play championship/premiership in the future.
I think some people on here havent watched that level of football consistently, cause i think the standard, apart from the top 4/5, is pretty woeful to be honest. And Potts has what every english footballer needs to have, athleticism.
Good luck to the boy he was very harshly treated last year imo so i dont blame him for leaving hopes he gets a regular go at CM and can fulfil his potential which is no doubt higher than people on here give him credit for

He is athletic. Unfortunately for him English footballers also need some aggression, ability to control a ball, positional sense and footballing brain.

No ability he scored 8 goals and got plenty of assists while playing half the season with an injury, people don't like him as he seemed to want to leave its a load of sour grapes from what i see. To those with more than two ounces of sense they would realise that the reason he didnt have the aggression was because he was injured, and yet he was still one of our better player this season.

Ha ha, I said ability to control a ball. Scoring 8 goals doesn't mean he has a good touch does it? His strength is carrying the ball and getting to advanced positions that's it. No sour grapes he's gone as I didn't rate him that highly when he was here.
Edit to add a sore toe doesn't make u get knocked off the ball easily.
