La Liga mile ahead now for me in terms of standard, constant Results in Europe and a very gruelling domestic season which requires an in depth squad.
Premier League second in my opinion for standard but low down for entertainment.
Looking like Barcelona v Sevilla in Tbilisi in August in the Super Cup, funny old do.

La liga is very weak below the top 7, due to having individual tv rights, if each team payed the team in the same position in their retrospective league the premier league would win hands down as it has by far the best depth.

That is a fair comment, think Sevilla would probably beat Man U over 2 legs if they played next week mind but Man U would beat Leverkusen etc and Southampton would thump AC Milan. Think Hamburg would probably beat Newcastle but the sides who came up in the Championship would pretty much beat all the sides who came up from the 2nd tiers in the other top Leagues.

I'm not to sure about sevile beating man u over two legs, the only reason why sevilla win the Europa league and our teams don't are that we don't really care about it so put out weak squads. Although I don't think this Spanish dominance will last long with the new money in the premier league as the chairmen of PSG said in a couple of years no one will be able to compete with the money in the English game.

Very Good Club, stacks of top players have came through there over the years. Winning that and coming 5th in the League is very impressive - even more so when you look at who they lost last Summer. Not saying Sevilla would be clear favs but I would say they are stronger than United at the minute as well as Atletico being stronger than City and Arsenal.

The Championship!- most exciting, anyone can win it, great clubs, good fans, biggest prize; fans of 'championship' clubs love it and whilst they want to get out of it there's aprhension re leaving. Some leagues are a bit on the predictable side ie we know who the top one/two will be. I'll the PL it's due that on their day anyone can beat anyone else, you've got to be on top form every time eg Burnley v Man city.

The premier league is very weak below the top 7 and I conpletely disagree. I think some of the lower la liga teams would wipe the floor with some of the teams of cart horses in the bottom half of the PL. The movement and intensity in the way they press would simply be too much for the lower English teams. There's absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support your claim that the premier league has "by far the best depth" when our so called best teams get their arses handed to in Europe every season of late. And it's very lazy to say our teams don't care about the Europa league. They do. There was champions league football at stake FFS! You're wrong about this one, mate. Sorry.

It's a lazy conclusion that sums up the arrogance of premier league fans imo

Depends how we are judging this one... I have gone for La Liga, because the top clubs are streets ahead of our top clubs technically and will win most of the big European prizes in the next few seasons. However, the Premier League, because it has a fairer distribution of TV right money, has more strength in depth towards the bottom of the division.
The standard of the Premier league has dropped a lot in the last few years to the point where I think the standard of football is probably third behind La Liga and the Bundesliga, in terms of technical quality. There is an argument that it is more entertaining, with more close matches, but that is generally because our better teams have simply come back to the pack in recent years.
The Bundesliga wins hands down as the strongest for fans. The highest attendances, best atmospheres, most reasonable prices, etc.
Overall I'd say La Liga first, Bundesliga second and Premier League third, despite tha massive hype surrounding it.

It's a lazy conclusion that sums up the arrogance of premier league fans imo Depth means the chances of mid or low regarded teams beating higher regarded teams in a league, like the example already given in Burnley beating and drawing with City but getting relegated whilst the later finished 2nd, that is depth. Depth can not be measured by the top 4 teams of a league playing against each other in Europe, that is just telling you the top 4 from the prem are not as good as the top 4 of Spain etc. I can never understand the attitude of somebody like yourself that throws out the prem fans are arrogant line and have a huge hard on in the rush to slate anybody who follows such teams, at the end of the day they are just fans the world over, do you think Barca or RM fans don't expect their teams to win every game ? Is that arrogant ? I very much doubt that Leicester or Stoke fans are arrogant about much but may as well use that great big flogger brush and coat every fan out there in one go. Your conclusion can be labeled as lazy also, it is know that a lot of teams play weak until they get a chance of the trophy and then all of a sudden a stronger team starts emerging, Arsenal did it the league cup a few years ago, a mostly very youthful team took them to the semis and then boom the bigger stars popped out as Arsenal hadn't won **** all for ages, then promptly lost to relegated Birmingham, I guess there's that there depth angle again For your information I have been a supporter of Manchester City since 1977 (5 year old) a support that has never wavered despite the majority of that time them being shite, I have however always supported Carlisle and my first game I remember seeing them live at BP was during big Bob Lee's time so from memory it would have been around 81. I was a regular at BP until MK's robbing of the club and never went back until he left and then stopped again as the boys wanted to go with their mates and I wasn't going on my own or taking the wife at £70 a match, better things to spend that amount of cash on, we now go to a couple of games a season, 1 boy is a season ticket holder and the other would close his curtains if they played on the lawn. What is arrogant about that ?

It's not the arrogance of supporters of their individual clubs, I was talking about arrogance over the league as a whole.
I've read on numerous occasions things such as "Come and perform in the premier league before he can be branded world class" as if the premier league is the be all and end all. Statements such as "Sevilla only won the Europa league because our teams don't care about it" is arrogant as far as I'm concerned.
To me depth is the quality of the league as a whole, not a case of a bottom team beating a top team because the top team isn't very good. Depth is the level of quality when you go down to the bottom of a league and I think La Liga is higher. Happy stated that position v position the premier league would win easily. I disagree.

See this is why we're disagreeing. Because if we're judging it by that then League 1 or League 2 have better depth than the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga etc.

I don't really know enough about either La Liga or the Premier League to make much of a judgement about the depth of talent in either league. Proper fans of all the individual Premier League clubs are generally real football fans, it is the media and the armchair fans who are the arrogant ones. The clowns who go in local pubs to watch "their team" (Chelsea, or City, or whichever big club has won most in the the last 5 years), you know them, those who are now wearing their Chelsea shirts but had City ones last year and who have never been to either of their stadiums. Those fools who ask me why I support Carlisle because they're never going to win anything. Those are the arrogant fans, genuine fans of big clubs are far more realistic about their club and their relative positions in the League and the game as a whole. I have mates who are Liverpool and Man United fans, they are well aware of the failings of their particular clubs, they know where they need to improve and most of all they are not deluded enough to think their teams are on a par with the current best teams in Europe.

You can't just assume because the PL sides have more money that laliga teams are "far worse"

The type of football they play, more technical football and movement, closing down space etc would beat our end to end open type of football in my opinion. Like I say further up, the only thing we've got to judge is the leagues respective performances in European competition, and La Liga is proven to be superior over recent years. The rest of the leagues comparison is pure speculation and guesswork, which is why you can't really be certain that la liga is "far worse".

Stats wise most surveys taking various criteria together rank the premier league the No I football league in the world. Its watched by far more globally , generates the most money ,only the Bundeslege has a higher attendance and believe it or not collectively has most in success in Champions league over the last 10 years.

I think around 2007-2009 the premier league certainly was the top dog.
But over the past few years la liga really has got it's act together across the board and is definitely the strongest at the moment. The top 4 are really strong now, but I think that has made the teams below them stronger. They may not have a lot of money but they produce and develop some bloody good players whether it be from cast offs or their own youth setup.
