They won't be passing details on without your consent, I'd be pretty sure of that.

Wasn't that the "opt out" part of it..?

Wasn't that the "opt out" part of it..? Yea, exactly so. The Trust/Club just need to be careful that they consider the 'opt-out' for this season. In future seasons, the opt-out can go on ST application forms, and by not opting out, you are then consenting for your details to be passed on to the Trust. As this cannot happen this season, it may be that they go for an 'opt-in' instead, allowing all ST holders to join the Trust FOC.

Can't see the Club doing the Trust's work, and the Trust can't have our details without permission etc?

Yeah, expect to see something in the media - and something from the club too. I imagine they'll want to notify their ST holders as much as the Trust do. The club are fully on board after all.

They've missed the boat after the radio announcement already...

They've missed the boat after the radio announcement already... It wasn't an 'announcement' it was a passing comment on radio. How have they missed the boat? The comment was only made on Tuesday, people who didn't listen to the Football Forum, probably 99% of Carlisle United supporters, won't even know the comment was made.

If it wasnt an announcement he should've kept quiet then!
Just comes across as the usual half arsed start to a potentially good idea in time...

The comment was only made on Tuesday, people who didn't listen to the Football Forum, probably 99% of Carlisle United supporters, won't even know the comment was made. The Trust really must get to grips with how media works. They have an opportunity now to gain members and become a much more fan based and broader organisation but they seem hell bent in ignoring this small window and waiting for something . . . undetermined. . . instead of trying to interact with the fanbase. It's very possible that 99% of the fans missed a passing comment on the radio, however I can practically guarantee the rest of the media outlets won't have missed it because it's their job to pick up on any comments made pertaining to Carlisle United. So now a casual comment, instead of being an announcement that all press outlets would treat as news and cover, is now old news, it's been said on the radio, so nothing new. That's why anything new from the Trust, and there should be something at least every week at the moment, should be done as a press release to all media outlets, with an embargo, stating the date and time the info can be reported (with some thought as to when such media outlets have their deadlines), so then any news is new, fresh and interesting. Casual comments to one particular source should be avoided. I believe now is the time that fans can stand for election, not sure when the deadline is; should know but there again, it should be being shoved in the face of all Carlisle fans on a daily basis until entries close, it isn't. No one knows what is going on at the club, a golden opportunity for the Trust to speak out. It's the close season, little news and the media, at this time of year are looking for news to cover, a great time for the Trust to get their message out. It aint happening.

There'll be people who are pretty clueless about filling these things in and just want to get it done quick who will overlook it. If you have to actively opt in that would be better than joining the Trust being the default position and having to opt out.

You know all this PPI stuff that's been going on over the last few years. Wonder if in future fans will be able to claim they were Mis sold trust membership not being sure if they were opting in or out?
