The atmosphere at Sunderland was crap for a number of reasons. The away end stretched out as it was wasnt the best, not a lot of home fans, average team performance, fans who were there who go once or twice a season, disenchanted regulars looking forward to the prospect of relegation to the conference. All of those are far bigger reasons than allocated seating. I remember the win at Morecambe not long before and the atmosphere wasnt brilliant either and that was standing. They are all valid reasons however I don't think they are bigger reasons than allocated seating.
We could have still had the people who wanted to chant grouped together at the back, then the fans who go once or twice and families sitting. It could have been a better atmosphere with the exact same crowd there if people could have chosen where to stand/sit.
Do you mean the Morecambe game this season on Boxing Day? Thought that was a decent atmosphere, certainly better than the Sunderland game.

Yeah tbh I'd forgot the Sunderland game was so long ago.
