I sort of agree with you . . . except I have joined but I get what you're saying.
Really the Trust has got to realise that fans need to want to join, few fans are going to join because they are on a mission or feel guilty.
At the moment it feels like we have one secret elitist society called Carlisle United, where the fans are made to feel at best a necessary nuisance and sometimes not even necessary, whilst another secret society tells us to join them and things will get better, but with precious little information or openness to back up their claims.
I know people, good people who genuinely want things to improve, are working hard to try and get fans on board, but if, as fans, all we hear is that there have been meetings with various groups, then it's just another secret society, making secret assumptions about fans. Really not sure what or if there is a way forward but there needs to be a different way of thinking, so fans are included and valued, whether its the club flogging tickets etc, or the trust trying to gain members.

Don't disagree with much of that post Bumble to be honest. The above bit, I'll expand on a little. The meeting yesterday with a few reps of the various groups was just to ensure that they're all on board and wanting to move forward as one. There was no point opening yesterday's meeting up to all. Yesterday was about putting plans in place for more openness, more communication and more transparency. I think I mentioned elsewhere, but there were talks of Trust roadshows across the county in the new couple of months so that fans can question/raise concerns, but more important feel more included and valued - have a listen to the radio Tuesday or Friday next week, I'll post the listen again link once it's online, for anybody who misses it. When I joined the Trust last year it was because I didn't have a clue what they did, or what the point of them was. To say I was sceptical was an understatement. They're all genuinely nice people, all passionate CUFC fans - I can see that, which is why I'm still there, and wanting to get involved more. Fans shouldn't be joining for reasons like I did, because 99% wouldn't bother risking £10 for a complete unknown. Fans should be joining because they can see the benefits, and because other members spreading the word tell them how fantastic it is, and what a good job they do on match days and day-to-day club operations.

Who are the 'various' groups? This just adds to the notion that there are different cliques jostling for position.
I'm not sure a club the size of CUFC needs more than a Trust (the power base), a Supporters Club (fundraising, discounts, fluffy dice) and maybe the London branch, although even that could be brought indoors*.
* Although I understand their historic desire to remain at arm's length.

I want a dissident on The Trust Board. Someone who can challenge, but in a constructive way. Dancingbear I respect your opinion.

Im not sure if its an opinion or a statement or if theyre both the same thing. I just dont want to join. That in itself isnt a criticism of anyone. It just isnt for me. Until i got married i had 3 tickets in the premier club as well that ive packed in. Once all this ownership stuff gets sorted ill be signing my 3 year old up (prob just in time for them to scrap the shirts for 7s as a costcutting measure) to the junior blues. Thatll do for me.

Funnily enough I recently acquired a record player and played that the other day for the first time in years.

Some good views on this thread and all fans have the right not join if they wish. I am one l wants to help the fans have a voice and have a supporters group that mirrors some of the great work that other clubs have done. What has changed? Nothing yet but there is change in the air and if I can help facilitate this with other liked minded supporters then great.

The Winds of Change.. Ha! Do us a favour. The Trust is nothing more than a yes man to the regime. The Trust were donated money by fans to make a change, and make a difference, nothing is happening.

The Trust must be disbanded and re-constituted. The historical actions of the previous lunatics has tainted the ' brand ' permanently. They have done more harm than good by a country mile.

I'm very much with dancingbear on this, in that I have absolutely no intention of joining an organisation which will never do what I want it to do. Surely the job of the Trust is to hold the Board of Directors to account for the things they do wrong - yes, there are many. Aren't they there to represent the fans? Does anybody think this is actually what the Trust, in it's current form, is doing? I'd like to know if the Trust have demanded to know who the mystery billionaire is, or even whether he/she exists. If they have demanded that and not had an answer, why hasn't that been made public and a big stink created? If they have had an answer why have they not reassured fans that the investor actually exists (or not). The Trust is entirely too cosy with the 2 remaining clowns, and that should easily be enough to put anybody off joining it in it's current form.

Due to historical events, the Trust are in a lose, lose situation here, because. 1) The are NOT seen to be looking after fan interests. 2) If they do, they will be vilified for stirring up trouble again......

The Trust do have intentions to re brand and reorganise with Lummy apparently being a part of the new fans at up. I for one have decided with what's going in or more to the point what's not going on to join the Trust and hopefully if enough new people join maybe bring about the change both within the Trust and the club.
