Personally think he looks very good in CM, can see that being his future position from now on. Strong and uses the ball well.

I'm undecided, in his first game against Morecambe he looked a bit iffy but he's grown into the position. Think he's put in some brilliant performances at CB but he's made a couple of balls ups. Either way we've got a good player on our hands.

Him & the new fella in centre mid.

I'd say his attributes are more fitting to a dominant CM than a CB, and he seems to be improving very quickly since he's been played there.

CMW most talented player and best prospect at the club, well ahead of Potts and Dempsey.

Him & the new fella in centre mid. That's the future, very strong, could do with another grizzly CB a la Kev Gray.

CMW has more ability than the rest of the club put together, he could probably play in any position on the pitch. Without his past he could have been a premier league player by now.

I don't think CMW can play anywhere on the pitch......RB for example. I do think he can be the spine of the team formation though.

I think at CM he adds a physical presence that in the likes of Potts and Dempsey, we don't really possess.

Too much of a footballer to play at CB.

The best centre backs are the ones that can play a bit as well as defend. It's true to say that CMW has had one or two wobbles at centre back but that's when he has been exposed by a weak midfield and when he had only just come back from injury.
With Griffiths arrival we now have someone who can do the dirty work in midfield and give more protection to the defence and CMW will benefit from being in a defence that is better protected.
The game plan clearly worked against Wimbledon with Griffiths and CMW in front of the defence to allow them to deal with the threat of Akinfenwa. We won't face this type of threat every week and I'm not sure it would be right to go with 2 defensive midfielders in a home match when we really ought to be more attack minded.
I would also suggest CMW's lack of pace is better suited to being a centre back than in centre midfield where he would be expected to work up and down the pitch a lot more.
What is pleasing is that we are now in a position where we have a versatile player who can be moved to centre back if we need him there, this is especially important given the way Troy's knees have to be managed. And that won't weaken the midfield now that we have Griffiths.

Too much of a footballer to play at CB. Didn't bother Baresi or Beckenbauer!

Ha... To split hairs I'd argue those two were more sweepers than CBs...
In our position we aren't likely to have anybody of their quality rocking up and I'd just quite like our CBs to make no mistakes and have our ball players further up the field...
However as newblue points out we've got ourselves a very handy versatile player which is a huge asset

Surely we are all just happy this is happening after years of calling for Murphy to play in midfield!

i think we sometimes forget CMW is only 20 years old, i think when he becomes a bit more experienced he could settle back into the back four but at the moment his range of passing is his best attribute so i think midfield is his best position at the moment

Thank your lucky stars Abbott isn't still here as he'll have been converted into a Winger by now.

The strange irony is that at the start of this season more than half of the squad were midfielders and Kavanagh didn't consider CMW to be one of them??!!!
