According to a lad on Twitter (who was on said bus) it was one of the windscreen wipers that stopped working, then upon getting a guy out to help, was a bit worse than just a quick fix. They got there with 30 mins to go in the match.

What an awful day for those supporters stuck on the bus on New Years Day. Hope they get their money back and some ticket compensation. Still, at least they saw a goal.

Why should travellers on an Independent Operation get Ticket Compensation? They don't book through the Club...

From I heard, the windscreen wiper stopped working, so the driver stopped the bus. He then started fiddling with the wiring himself which resulted in him ******* the bus completely. This meant that even when it stopped raining, they couldn't move. They were there about 2 hours before another bus arrived.
Frustrating day all round for those travelling.
CCU, correct me if I'm wrong, but Sunderland aside, I dont think the club offer travel this season to away games.

Exactly my point Crunch, non-Club ran, so why hope they get a ticket refund? I went by train, if it was late, I wouldn't have got anything...

I never meant compensation from the club, but from the coach company. And as far as I'm aware you are entitled to claim for compensation from the train companies if your train is delayed (although different companies have different rules to what / how much you can claim)

I thought it was fairly obvious what thecryingcumbrian meant. Why anyone would choose the bus over a train is a mystery to me, especially if you live in Carlisle.

I suppose it is down to price deeksme, and maybe the convenience of being dropped off and picked up at the ground. That said, I don't know of many people who use the bus these days. Been a while since I went to Crewe, but I vaguely remember it being quite close to the train station, so in this instance perhaps the train would have been a better option (especially if booked in advance). Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

I understand the Supporters Travel Club do have an insurance policy in place but not sure if it will cover this eventuality though.
Where was the Bus when this happened as it seems strange that a two hour wait for a replacement coach resulted in them not getting there till 4.30 pm ? or were they working to a tighter timescale than usual with it being NYD.

they can't have been that far from the ground. according to google maps, it's less than 2 and 1/2 half hours to crewes ground from here.
