Happy New Year to all (early I know).
Seems a bit quiet on here and I assume most folk are out celebrating the end of 2013. For those of us who are too sad/skint/ill/boring to go out, how about making a few predictions for the forthcoming year?
CUFC - Will get their first win of the year against Crewe tomorrow and then achieve a 1-1 draw at Sunderland (losing the reply at home 2-1 aet). As for the rest of the season, I predict we will be safe with 3 games to spare, but wont really achieve position higher than 15th.
World Cup - Brazil to win. England wont play particularly well, but will shock a few people by getting to the knock-out phase where a couple of lucky wins will shock the world and will reach the Semis before going home.
Commonwealth Games - Will be held in Glasgow as planned - One or two people might give a ****.
News event - The human race will make contact with aliens from another world (In other words, Big Brother will be commissioned for another series)
Politics - UKIP will gain a few seats in the European elections, but not make as big an impact as the Daily Mail readers expect; People will get sick and tired of Farage and his cronies and a new leader will be in place by the proper elections in 2015. This will see them win a sizeable proportion of the popular vote but win next to no seats. The UK coalition will dissolve sometime during the Summer over something trivial (compared to what has gone on in the past) to allow a run up for the next election.
Celebrity deaths (a bit morbid I know...sorry) - I predict we will say goodbye to Bruce Forsythe, Paul Gascoigne, Brian May, John Major, Ian Paisley, Vera Lynn, George Bush, Paul McCartney (I hope I'm wrong with almost all of them).
Weather - A good couple of weeks of disruptive snow in late Jan/early Feb, then nothing but rain and wind for the rest of the year I'm afraid. There will be one day of good sunshine in August which will be declared as a "Mini heatwave".
