isn't he the only 'proper' left back since ziggy who has managed more than 5 games there without sustaining a serious injury? Horwood managed 90 odd games and we nearly got promoted with him in the team. Townsend is the best we have had since then. Laddo on loan from Wigan (Mustoe?) towards the end of last season was ok going forward but a bit suspect defensively.

He can tackle for a start and has much better positional sense than both Horwood and Mustoe.

Definitely glad to have him back. One worry is that as he likes to get forward (which he does excellently) and continue his run once be lays the ball off, and given that Lawrence, if he does indeed come back, offers zero protection to his fullback as he is always infield when we dont have the ball, we may be particularly vulnerable down our left side.

Townsend was on 4 yellows before he went back. seeing as he's rejoined us do the yellows carry on or is he back to zero because of the break in his contract?

ooh just noticed 2 of the four were in the same game thus becoming a red. does that complicate matters or not?

Anyone think we exaggerated O'Hanlons precautionary injury to help persuade QPR to let us keep Ehmer
'Please Harry our best centre back and stand in are both injured, can we keep Max'
Great news he's staying though

Good stuff. Other than the goalkeeper situation we look pretty strong for Sunday now.

Feared that Max would be off. Great bit of business. Well done Kav and co.

Chantler's "Attitude" to rehab is allegedly not the best, probably explains why Kav has only used him when really needed to, and pushed for the return of Townsend... Would be interested to hear more on this
