I wouldn't say it's so much fixed during the fight as it is beforehand when matches are made. Promoters would never or rarely put one of their prospects in with someone who might beat them until it's really neccessary. That's one of the reasons why mma is becoming so popular. The UFC try to make every fight on their bill fairly evenly matched. Can that be said about boxing? Joshua will have had far harder sparring sessions than anything he's fought in the ring. He's one of the best heavies out there so he needs to be fighting at that level. People say it's a learning curve but I fail to see what he's learned so far.
