Would rather take talent from united who produce far better players than city's, as they buy all their players. Manchester Citys youth set up is the best in the country along with Chelsea and Fulham right now, far as I know nearly all of their youth teams have won their leagues or club competitions. It's hardly a binary choice between which clubs you get loan players from but City is the obvious long term choice for young players.

Perhaps you're right, I agree that he hasn't seemed bothered at times but he isn't the only one. Kav sees him every day so he'll know how good he thinks he is, this is the same Kav who has managed to *relegate us? *as good as, at time of writing. I was careful not to say 'how good he is' because obviously Kav isn't the best talent spotter, but I would tend to hope having seen him for a few months now in games and matches he'll have some idea of his potential.

Byrne has not shown enough to warrant a contract with us. Firstly we need experience up front and this could be supported by inexperience on the bench. His displays from the bench have been very ordinary. As an example, we had Andy Preece and a very raw Matty Fryatt paired together.

And as for City's cast off's, Chantler has been and is one of our best players this season. Meppen-walter has great potential and don't forget where Adam Clayton came to us from. We've had, or it seems like we've had, loads from Man U, most of whom have been average or not even got off the bench to make an appearance.

Enlighten us as to how many of Manchester United's current starting line up came through their youth ranks for free and how many they bought? Adnan Januzaj , Tom Cleverley,Danny Welbeck,Jonny Evans all came through the youth team at Manchester united, then you have other premier league regulars at over teams, Chester etc now tell me where all these city youth prospects are? Non existent. Adnan Januzaj is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a winger for English club Manchester United. Born in Brussels, he began his career with Anderlecht before joining Manchester United in 2011 at the age of 16. Thomas William "Tom" Cleverley is an English footballer who plays mainly as a central midfielder for Manchester United and England. After starting his career in the youth setup at Bradford City. Want to try another good player from their youth team, Evans is 26 so that would be stretching it a little as would calling him a good player.

most of our current crop of home grown players only joined carlisle at 16, but they are still technically our youth players so therefore are the ones mentioned from Manchester united, And i suppose poor old evans with his 4 epl, 2 league cups and fifa cub world cup is a crap player. But on the whole we have good links with both we have had Jeremy Helen, chris chanter and adam clayton in in recent years from city

Maybe just maybe Man Citys brand spanking all singing all dancing 200m academy will produce a lot of players that need 1st team experience, also as somebody has already said, Citys under 16 team is one of the best in Europe.
I get sick of reading about Man Utds fabled academy, it hasn't done very much since they got 5 golden boys all at once.
As for Evans he is crap no matter what his trophy cabinet holds, that Alan Shearer must be an awful player with his no medals.

Maybe it's not such a bad time for Byrne to be released from Man Utd. He's playing for a contract tomorrow.

Is he eligible to play tomorrow? I thought being released might make him ineligible, as technically, he is no longer on loan with us

Is he eligible to play tomorrow? I thought being released might make him ineligible, as technically, he is no longer on loan with us I did wonder this myself initially; however I assumed no news from the club meant that he was still with us. I would assume that they will release him once his contract is up. Had he not been on loan with us, they might have just paid up his contract now.

What City are putting together there will blow every other british and most european clubs out of the water.
But they need to as they need to reduce the "paid for" players in their squad by 3 each year for the next four years to meet the european finance protocol.

What I've seen of Byrne he's average/below average. He reminds of a younge Lewis Guy, so we bount to sign him!
