Classic Nixon, Classic Carlisle.
Shoot ourselves in the foot every single time. A simply appalling way to conduct business. There's no way you'd be entertaining an offer at this stage unless you've known about it for some time and had some reasonably firm and substantiated proposals. Which means they've deliberately kept Lappings party and Trust in the dark.
Why would you want to work with the current regime, even in a transitional period, after this disgraceful behaviour? Lapping and his investors certainly won't. The deal's dead I'm afraid.
A message to Andy Hall too: presumably as a supporter of the club, how can you continue in good conscience to be the mouthpiece for this Board of Jokers?

Can't help but feel the same unfortunately. People are saying we should be prepared to see what comes of this other offer, but in my opinion tonight's statement is the end of the road for Andrew Lapping. Will be very surprised if he doesn't walk away.

Nixon has asked Lapping to "Step aside for 2-3 weeks" whilst other bid looks at books etc. He's spent 9 months of life sorting this. Deffo sounds down. Says he was ready to sort a new MD, with past Football Experience, who took a Club to PL from nowhere. Bloke was at his house interviewing Commercial candidates yesterday. Deal was to be done for 1st July... What happened to all those B*****ks statements Nixon churned out during the Abbott contract saga .... We are a club of honour and will hounour our verbal agreements blah blah blah. Only when it suits it would seem. In for themselves, the lot of them! Nixon an co are beyond belief with this one. Why on earth would they jeopordise the appointment of a reported high calibre MD? Answer on a postage stamp please Mr Nixon.

Just to throw two names into the mix that may not of been mentioned. frank lynch??? Frank Lynch yes he has the money but after what he did with Celtic Nation not a chance anyone would trust him. The lapping deal has to go through. When someone has the fans backing they hold the power not the current BOD First name that sprung to my mind as well - how come after 3-4 years of no outside interest now when we are moving forward apace with AL - this 2nd party comes on the scene. Shocked Mr Jenkins, what`s the game?

As someone said earlier they've used the Lapping situation to appease fans and take heat off them. Jenkins statement re Pattison said it all last week - they are intent on destroying this club That statement did seem to indicate something didn`t sit right with AJ re SP stepping down - yes!

Wonder how this Board would be if in a years time under the mystery Bidder, we'd just won L2 by 10pts and announced our new Ground at the Viaduct?!

Just listening online to radio Cumbria interview. That is the voice of a genuine fan and a man genuinely hurting. This was totally avoidable. I'm distraught for him. And very angry too.

Well i would happily play up to the stereotype of a fickle football fan and back calls for Curle to be knighted if this happened but for some reason i seem to think losing 0-3 at home to york in front of 1,500 seems to be more likely at the minute

The only thing I have to question is where Fred Story stands in all this? Didn't he wipe off the debt for Lappings investment?

It's inevitable that Lapping and his investors will walk away. As reasonable business people you'd have to, you can't do a consensual ("transitional" in this case) deal when the other side has destroyed the mutual confidence and trust.
And going hostile won't work either. The current incumbents have proved that they will stick two fingers up to anything the fans want and there's no legal redress if they don't want to sell to Lapping and Co.
And that's without saying anything about the effect on the playing side. Another season of perpetual struggle, anyone?

I can't believe the Board would invent an investor, knock back AL then pull the plug. They know they could never walk down the street in Carlisle again. AL has told us he is doing this for the love of the club so he just waits 3 weeks then he can see what happens. If he loves the club and has no designs on Brunton Park what difference does it make, maybe we receive 2m not 1m and this new money we can spend rather than just stashing for a rainy day. I'm not convinced it is a bad thing and every business deal hits snags at some stage. Lers see who the new people are, we can hang the Board in 3 weeks if it proves to be hot air

Lapping has gone very quiet on here. If the deal is off its because he can't deliver. I really hope laffy still succeeds - even if only to shut you, and your ridiculous collection of logins, up for good.

Lers see who the new people are, we can hang the Board in 3 weeks if it proves to be hot air Even if he is willing to wait 3 weeks, will the other investors that are going in with him wait? It's a shitty thing for Nixon to do and even if the investor is real, I'm convinced it will mean everything stsys the same in terms of structure just with more money which won't be good long term. As mentioned already by someone else why can't they let the lapping deal go through then if the other investors are serious then they approach Lapping's lot

"lapping has gone very quiet on here" - am afraid I thought he said a little too much on here for a man in his position, and took the "I`m just a fan" a bit too far for a businessman involved in negotiations of this sort would you really expect it..............nah I`d say no meself.
Am backing AL even tho I`ve criticised him above.

I appreciate the point you make Seesaw but can you seriously imagine Nixon and co being anywhere near as open and informative about their plans as Laffy? This whole business is shitty and very worrying, If it gets any worse, the direct debit gets stopped!!

Evening all, here is where I'm at.
Over the last few days I have been speaking to a player I know very well who we are interested in. In the past I have had to work very hard to sell the club due to league position and location.
From the moment I have had dealings with the potential investors (AL and co), I have been so excited about the future and the possibilities that lie ahead because of the backing they have give me regarding supporter involvement, that my enthusiasm sells the club to players who ask me about it within a minute.
As you know I have been working on a new supporters club, we were waiting on the commercial manager being announced and then it was full steam ahead. The reason for waiting for the commercial manager is that the new regime made it clear they wanted the supporters looked after from minute 1 and all their ideas listened to.
I'm not here to slag anyone off but I just want you to know that I'm really deflated with the news also because I know just how much was going to change and how many of your ideas were going to be looked in. I can't say that will be the case now so it may be that it's all came to a halt.
Obviously I'm a a big supporter of Andrew Lappings proposal but in any walk of life I think it's important to treat people with respect, which I feel he has treat everyone at the club with, it should work both ways.
Be just and fear not
