Just checked back, Jon Colman was live tweeting the end of season awards dinner and mentioned Nixon saying this:
JN: One group wanted to put in £1m but insisted "that we played Maltese players all the time" #cufc
Better not be them then!

Eh...
So where would this leave Andrew Lapping and his team of investors if this ends up going through..?

Well that puts a hold on Lapping's investment and his appointment of a new MD and Commercial manager. Is this the end of Lapping's investment? This phrasing suggests that all is/was not well with the old BoD and Lapping:
"This proposed investment is structured over a three to five year period as opposed to a one-off injection of funding."
It's the third interaction between the old board and Lapping that seems to show them at odds with each other.

Chairman Andrew Jenkins said: "It is our duty as directors to get the best possible deal for the long-term future of the Club.
Why don't I trust them to get the best deal? In fact whatever they think is the worst deal, I'd probably go for that.

Worries me this. First Andrew J put out a statement about Steve P resigning which looks to be a swipe at the new investors, now a new option on the table.

Remember that player Mitsfud or something, sure he was Maltese, fast as anything but was a one season wonder.
It might have been a dream but didn't he rip us another one playing for Coventry?

Maybe they've got a rake of cash ready to go, as opposed to bits n bobs from local investors?
We don't know until more is announced, if it ever is!

Did anyone else get the feeling the £800K of pledges (rising to £1.25M) was somewhat slow in coming to fruition as hard investment? Could this be something to do with it?

No I AL was on course to get the money, but like CCU says this could be a more substantial amount of money with a 5 year plan of getting us to a certain place?

Could be but I bet it has something to do with the BoD no liking Lapping's plans and that this option means that they all stay on. Hope I'm wrong but this is Carlisle United an nothing is ever simple, does my head in.

Hope I'm wrong but this is Carlisle United an nothing is ever simple, does my head in. This was the feeling I got when I saw the statement. I've actually been expecting Nixon and co to come up with some excuse for them to stay on. What's the betting that this drags on and on and by this time next year we're still no further ahead and still have the same bunch of clowns running the show?

The problem with this is that any new investment will now be delayed. Lapping's investment (uncontested) would have come before the start of next season, now that won't happen. Also we were about to appoint a new MD, by putting that appointment on hold we risk losing the leading candidate to another club or organisation. If they are committed to appointing an MD then I see no reason to delay it.

It could be that new interest has materialised because of the promise of the trust diminishing their share. An obstacle for new investment has been removed.

I think what's certain is that it's going to be a while before we read an official statement from the club which is clear and straight to the point.
You have to try and read behind the lines and decipher everything coming from all sides at the moment to even try to understand whats going on... and it looks like that won't change for a while.

The trust have only agreed to reduce their share on the basis of the Lapping consortium though haven't they?

Devils advocate here. What if AL has done his job and got the trust to reduce their holding then his mates could come in with this offer? Another scenario is does the trust share return to 25.6% or whatever it was?

New staff appointments put on hold can't see that going down to well with AL.
"The Club remains committed to appointing a new Managing Director and a new Sales and Marketing Director but because of this new investment offer, the Club will temporarily put on hold planned appointments of all senior non-playing staff."

Very disappointed Mullen wasn't first with this. Clearly slipping... I heard yesterday that the offer for the new MD had been withdrawn. This was after he handed in his notice. I was also told that lapping was no longer welcome at BP Thought it was all bollocks so didn't post anything. Laffy will no doubt tell us on here.

Oh deary me. When push comes to shove they don't want to let go, what are the chances that this err "new" offer will fall flat and they will have fucked off AL and his investors and they then will be left in charge for the new season. Now where the **** is that nixon out banner
