None of them are finalised yet flatcap - we'll release a full schedule once they are (they all come with contracts to be signed and agreed). So what you mean is that because Nixon is a slippery ****** who will go back on his word you cant comment til signed. Looking forward to blyth, nice short trip up from newcastle. Makes Workington look like the south of france though.

Just found that on their website.
What's that leave us?
Tues 14th July Sat 18th July Tues 21st July Sat 25th July Tues 28th July
Would say they're likely other dates?
3 games in 5 days in early July - Hope we've plenty trialists or signings for those, even if the opposition is Non-League...

Oldham at home, what an enticing proposition that is. It's the perfect opposition to prepare for the season imo. Who gives a **** about playing a team with a few names in the lineup? We need to prepare properly and Oldham will give us a good taste of the type of opposition and teams we'll be playing against.

Oldham is much better than Newcastle reserves, think a game against Barrow would be good for us as well.

What a waste of time/money that will be. There was a rumour of a SW-Based Training Camp, which would tie in with this?

All the other clubs have the friendlies on their sites without a problem. If you are that concerned about contracts why can't you announce them as provisional?
It just feels like we are being kept in the dark.

May i ask why we are playing truro i can undertsand the other non league friendlies and giving them a game but we need more challenging opponents like high league 1 or championship sides. Id like to see sunderland because they still played a few first team players but we need challeneges to get us back into the season

There's probably an Army camp down there or summat. The players will be getting put through the ringer with Curle in charge so they're absolutely fkd once the season starts.

Not being kept in the dark flatcap - I just don't have anything in the way of a finalised list. There are still factors which could affect it and change things.
I'm pushing for details but can only work behind the football staff on this one, in terms of announcing things.

mush - all friendly fixtures are subject to contract and terms are agreed before hand for costs, revenue share, etc. The Oldham game, if finalised, will be no different.
The friendly fixtures this year are being arranged and negotiated by the first team football staff. An agreement of £500 has been reached for the Penrith and Workington fixtures by them with the clubs concerned. BoD or admin staff don't get involved in that part of it. We pick it up, once it has all been agreed, to make the fixture go ahead.

So it was Keith Curle's idea to charge £500?

Having not been party to the discussions I can't say who would have spoken to the clubs from our end. Like I say, it's not something the admin side gets involved with at this stage.
